About Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity (SYVB)
Founded in 2019, Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity (SYVB) is the local chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN), serving as the official youth constituency to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The youth-led network empowers Singaporean youth to actively engage in biodiversity conservation by providing a platform for participation in policy dialogues, consultations and international forums. Through initiatives such as policy advocacy, youth consultations and collaborative projects, SYVB aims to align local efforts with the global vision of "Living in Harmony with Nature" by 2050.
About the Facilitator
Muhd Nasry leads SYVB’s efforts to bolster youth-driven advocacy for biodiversity in Singapore. As Executive Director, he steers initiatives ranging from consultations on land-use planning and wildlife protection, to pioneering efforts in conservation finance, biodiversity offsets and mainstreaming nature in education. Nasry believes deeply in youth-led systemic change and works to equip young leaders with the tools and platforms needed to influence policy directly, emphasising that impactful biodiversity stewardship must happen through both policy and awareness-raising. He has actively participated in stakeholder consultations with government agencies and represented youth at global negotiations, including COP16 under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
